Meet Holly Cox, creator of Wool and Spice
I am doing something I truly love, and am excited to see how it continues to grow and develop.
Wool and Spice specializes in handmade purses, pouches, and accessories. All items are handmade in Scottsdale, AZ with a combination of recycled wool, genuine leather, and trend-forward textiles. The recycled wool comes from old sweaters, skirts, scarves, and jackets that have been felted and transformed into items and appliques, such as Wool and Spice's signature poppy pattern. All items are fully lined and reinforced with heavy duty rivets and detailed top-stitching. Some decorative touches - such as glass or ceramic beads - are hand-sewn with embroidery and come from fellow artists. The beauty of re-purposing items is to give them a second life as a one-of-a-kind pieces. Wool and Spice is a very tactile brand and many items are inspired by the feel of the materials, then crafted into original and unique pieces of wearable art.
Creator Holly Cox:
"I learned how to sew as a child, but did nothing with that knowledge for years. I started sewing again, inspired by my love for creating and recycling. After my husband called me a wool and fabric hoarder, I signed up at a local craft fair to see if there was any interest in my products. The response was fantastic and I was officially hooked! Wool and Spice was launched in 2013 and I am constantly excited to work towards growing and developing the brand more each year. I never know what I will design next, so there are always new products and techniques to check out at Wool and Spice!"
